The Picnic table in the park is set and the Thomson family is just about to eat when their dog Max suddenly bursts into loud barking. A cat, who took an afternoon nap on a nearby bench, quickly disappears up into the nearest tree.
## Inspiration everywhere
We made a trip to "Astrid Lindgrens World" which inspired many of my earlier designs. We sat in a Pippi Longstocking inspired environment, at picnic tables, looking out over a man made tiny lake. Me and my son started discussing the tables and what shapes they were made of. I started wondering if it would be possible to print them with PLA filament in 1:87 HO scale.
I had also had my eyes on some old benches at a lake, where we often go for a swim during summer, and saw similar ones at Astrid Lindgrens World. A park bench set starting taking form in my head.
A bit later the kids were jumping into hay at an old "barn" and I sat down on an old milk churn stand watching them play. The idea of creating a milk churn stand in 1:87 was born.
At the same time my dad had an idea about a payphone stand and when the kids found one just before exiting Astrid Lindgrens World I quickly took a picture of that too.
Our kids have started more and more to look at things in the real world and ask if I can scale them down. Our oldest son loves a little bit rustic older looking things which I often find becomes quite cute in scale.
## The Community
After publishing the park bench set to Thingiverse I was quite surprised at how well this simple design was received by the H0 community. It is more or less only made from a few boxes put together, and yet it seemed to be appreciated. It was definitely inspiring to dare to add more to the community. I have downloaded lots and lots from Thingiverse and it was nice to finally be able to give something back. The conclusion is: don't be afraid of uploading even mundane looking simple things, even simple can be great for someone who hasn't gotten started with designing on their own yet.
