A lovely scent of newly baked bread.

The Brick Oven is the next addition to The Bakery. The Oven hatch has hings which makes it possible to open and close the hatch. Baguette, bread peel, log and a basket are included as accessory. Brick Oven

The Brick Oven is designed to fit at any wall, also the small one next to the door in the The Bakery.

Design

The Brick Oven

The Brick Oven was created in Onshape by drawing a pattern of bricks, extruding every second brick and then applying a small fillet on each. Brick Oven

When the first set of bricks had been extruded the next set of every second brick was extruded and the same fillet applied to those too. If two adjacent bricks are extruded they become one brick, hence the every second method. As you can see it's not a complicated design, just slightly tedious to extrude and use fillet on all bricks.

The Baguette

The Baguette was created in steps. Brick Oven

In step 1. a basic shape was created in 3D Builder out of a cylinder with end spheres. The cylinder is somewhat broader than it is high and the bottom was split and removed to make it flat.

In step 2. a "cut" shape was created and then used in step 3. to create cut's in the first basic shape.

As a last step 4. the model was imported into Meshmixer where a smooth brush was used on all sharp corners and an inflate brush used carefully in the middle of each cut. Texture was added by using a dotty stencil on the surface. Brick Oven

I knew that the surface texture would barely show when printing in dollhouse scale but it was still a detail which made the baguette feel more realistic to me. Even if no one else notice the detail I know it's there and feel more like I made a proper design job :)

The Peel

The first design of the peel had a rounded shaft, but to make the print easier it now has a flat surface underneath instead. I experimented a bit with making two parts and glue them together but this current design turned out to be the easiest to print since it doesn't need support or any annoying glue.

The Log

The logs are of the same model as the ones in my Tiled Stove design. Brick Oven

The picture shows the tiled stove in a scene with a bunk bed and a bedside table with a book. All items are available at Thingiverse.

The Basket

The basket is of the same model as the one in my Market scene at Thingiverse. You can find even more baskets there.

Painting

I used the same colors as described in The Bakery which is an acid free, non toxic acrylic paint brand called DecoArt Americana multi-surface satin. Brush & Paint

For the Brick Oven I wanted a bit more diverse colors than I used for The Bakery walls however so I mixed the paprika color a bit with white or brown to get some variation in brick colors.

Print orientation and assembly

All parts can be printed without supports if they are laying flat against the print bed.

Assemble the hatch and Oven by cutting a piece of filament and push through the hatch and Oven hinges.
